Late Friday evening, the Ohio's Governor proposed a state budget which would cut the Public Library Fund by 50% from the previous budget. This funding cut would be devastating to libraries around the state.
The Ohio legislature will vote on the budget bill this month (June), we are making a concerted effort with local libraries and libraries across the state of Ohio to convince legislators that reducing library funding is not the answer.
We need your help. If the Governor’s budget is accepted, over 250 public libraries across the state will have to cut hours, reduce staff and, in some cases, close libraries.

Again, please help us. If this budget passes, the next time it could be you (your state)...

PA is going through this too. With so many people out of work who need library resources for job searching and to borrow books and DVDs because they can't afford them, this makes no sense.
ReplyDeleteI agree. I'm trying to get the word out far and wide. I hope the Govenor comes to his senses. If this budget passes the people who help the current jobless population the most will be jobless themselves...
